Book Synopsis/ Review
The Big Cheese is always the best at everything- and he makes sure everyone knows it too! But when the annual Cheese-cathlon comes around and a new Wedge in town starts dominating the scene, how will the Big Cheese react? Perhaps the Big Cheese will finally learn the value of humility and being humble.
This latest addition to the Food Group series is perfect for modeling how to be a good sport when playing competitive games. Use the book to discuss Winning and Losing, and how you can react and behave in both situations to be a good sport and kind friend. Plus, I like how this book encourages kids to take a chance and try new things, even if they aren’t the best at it right away.

*How to Be a Good Sport* Surprise Craft
When little play competitive sports, it can be hard not to focus too much on winning and losing. However, it’s important to remind our littles that the joy of sports comes from playing and participating. Appreciate the process of the game and the time spent connecting, bonding, and playing together with teammates. And then, whether you win or lose, be a *good sport* and congratulate each other on a game well played. *The Big Cheese* read aloud helps littles focus on the fun of games, and reminds them of the joy in cheering on their friends and trying new things. To share these reminders with littles, check out this featured craft!
