Celebrate Fall: Children’s Books, Crafts, and Read Alouds
Happy Fall, Mai Friends! Do you have a *change in seasons* or *fall foliage* where you live? Or does the weather stay pretty similar year-round?
I can’t believe it’s already autumn! Here in SoCal, it’s still pretty summery-hot here during the day, but I can already tell the evenings are getting crisper and cooler. Low-key bummed because that means it’ll be too cold for pool time soon, but also excited for snuggly sweaters, pumpkin scented candles, and warm tea! (Green tea in the morning and chai tea to cozy up in the evenings!) Fall also means pumpkin patches, pumpkin carving, pumpkin pie (with some apple-ish themed treats thrown in), and all the cozy comfort foods!
To welcome the new season, I’m sharing this collection of Children’s Book Recs, Crafts, and Interactive Read Alouds to bring some fall fun your way! Enjoy some autumn bookish fun with your little learners this season ~ and let me know what some of your favorite fall traditions are.
Books
Below you’ll see a mini collection of books I’ve curated to celebrate Fall. In this amber-autumn-colored reading selection, you’ll find stories of not just trees and leaves, but mystery, friendship, and discovery! Click here for the full list of titles and links to order.
Crafts
I love extending the bookish fun beyond the book~ Check out these two craft inspired by two favorite Fall Read. Make new friends with Scarecrow, see what happens when this Old Lady swallows some Leaves, and learn about Growth Mindset with Bad Seed!
Perfect book craft to accompany the children’s book, “The Scarecrow” by Beth Ferry and The Fan Brothers. ~ A tender autumn tale about the power of friendship and the joy of helping others.
Great for Reading Centers for all grade levels! Read aloud the story “The Scarecrow” and then encourage students to create their own *My Helpful Scarecrow* Crafts and record how they are helpful to people around them, or to share one time they were helpful.

This interactive retelling craft will have students eager to retell the story, and act out the Old Lady swallowing the all the Fall Leaves and Items to Make a Scarecrow!
Read aloud the story “There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Leaves,” and then encourage students to create an Old Lady Feeder: Scare Crow Surprise to help remember and retell the story in the correct sequence of events.
